Q&A

Q. What is it about accounting and consulting that first drew your interest?
I had a mentor that was one of my dad’s best friends growing up. He was a partner at Deloitte at the time and had been preaching public accounting to me since the seventh grade. He was instrumental in educating me on the versatility of an accounting degree in all areas of business. His advice still rings true today and it’s a message I pass on to anyone who will listen.
Q. Without naming names, tell us about your favorite client and why you enjoyed working with them.
One of my favorite clients is one who is bold, innovative and strategic in all areas of their business. This particular client has taught me as much as I hope I’ve taught them. We had the good fortune of working with them from development stage all the way through to today as a successful public company. It is rewarding to be a resource for a company in those early stages and continue to see them excelling years later.
Q. Describe your work style.
Responsive and collaborative. I want to be seen as a true partner to our clients.
Q. Who is (or was) the most influential person in your life?
Without a doubt, my dad. He was a business owner, and growing up, I got to work for him. He taught me how to be a professional. I learned how to work with clients and how to make sure my product and I always present well. I took pride in everything I did because it was a reflection, not only of me but of him and his company.
Q. If you could pass on a nugget of wisdom to aspiring accountants or consultants, what would that be?
Learning can be challenging at times; you may learn through mistakes, work environments can be difficult, but try to embrace every one of those opportunities. Know that all that pain that you're associating with a problematic situation is temporary. There will be something good that comes out of it.
Q. What do you love most about your work?
I love the variety that public accounting gives us, both from an industry and service perspective but also where clients are on the growth spectrum. I also love being part of a team!
