Experience
My favorite client was someone who initially who brought us on board to work on a single consulting project. With significant amounts of historical data to analyze, a merger and complex technical issues, this project also allowed us to bring in specialists to serve the client’s individual needs. Through this process, we became their trusted tax advisors, and this led to entity and individual compliance work as well as tax consulting and estate planning. By using latest technology, we were able to reduce duplication and work efficiently, saving the client time and money while also streamlining work flow.
I consider myself a big-picture leader who values balance. I help my team keep things in perspective through a solutions-driven approach that allows us to serve our clients to the best of our ability. I enjoy teaching my team to understand the client’s holistic needs and because the better you understand that the more, we can all develop as professionals and reach our goals.
My dad was the person who encouraged me to become a CPA and after he passed away, I decided to go back to school. I’ll always remember the day that I received my CPA license. I was shopping with mom, when my brother called and told me that I had gotten my license in the mail. This was the culmination of a 2-year process that required a lot of work, but whenever things got challenging, I always remembered my dad’s words and advice. This helped me to accomplish my goal and it all paid off the moment when my brother gave me the good news.
When you’re first starting out in your career, things can seem overwhelming. You haven’t had the experience to live through challenging moments, so they often seem bigger than they really are. My advice to young professionals would be to avoid stress because there are solutions for everything. Seek out experienced mentors to help you find the right solutions and to deal with the pressure. Remember that you’re not alone. There are always people out there who will help you and grow.
The people I work with. I have brilliant colleagues who share ideas with me, and I feel lucky for the opportunity to be part of their growth. I love mentoring our people, teaching them how to build professional relationships and working together to become trusted advisors to our clients.
