Bio
Greg is a licensed CPA and a partner in Armanino’s Risk Assurance and Advisory practice. He has over 30 years of business experience specializing in information systems and internal controls. He leads engagements involving System and Organization Controls (SOC) examinations; IT audits; IT security and controls compliance; HITRUST assessments; Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act compliance; and controls/process improvement. Greg’s experience spans several industries, including financial services, health care and insurance.
Greg’s qualifications include 20 years of public accounting/consulting experience; 13 years of industry experience with roles in internal audit, information technology and accounting; leading the implementation of processes and controls to comply with the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley Act; performing multiple SOX controls rationalization projects; and directing outsourced IT audit and SOX services for many companies, including multinationals.
Experience
Over the last several years we’ve seen additional scrutiny and regulations come out for businesses to provide better transparency to customers. This trend will continue and will result in more and more pressure for companies to have SOC examinations done.
I home brew beer. It takes a lot of time, but I have a blast doing it. I don’t brew any particular kinds; I’m just working my way through a book of recipes.
I like to give people the opportunity to take a project and run with it. I’m always there for questions and input, but I think people learn best when challenged with something they’d never done before. You may not succeed every time, but I encourage people to try and find the solution on their own.
My father — he instilled hard work, commitment, reliability and accountability in me. These are qualities he really believed in and now I’ve adopted them into my life.
