Q&A

Q. What law or regulation in the accounting industry would you like to see changed?
There are certain aspects of GAAP that have changed or developed over the years that don’t make sense from a business perspective. GAAP needs to be aligned with what makes more logical sense for business owners and stakeholders.
Q. Without naming names, tell us about your favorite client and why you enjoyed working with them.
A manufacturing company that did a lot of acquisitions. Being a part of those transactions and seeing all the moving parts was fascinating to me, and it’s the reason I decided to get uncomfortable and transition from an audit group I’d been with for close to a decade. Once I made the switch, I knew M&A is where I belonged.
Q. Without naming names, tell us about your favorite client and why you enjoyed working with them.
A hobby and goal of mine is to visit all the major league baseball stadiums. I only have six to go.
Q. Describe your work style.
Structuring and organizing my time allows me to critically think and step out of the weeds to see the bigger picture. I also like to give freedom to the employees that I’m working with. Learning by doing is something I strongly believe in and I like to provide my team with those opportunities.
Q. If you could pass on a nugget of wisdom to aspiring accountants or consultants, what would that be?
This profession has endless possibilities. If you put your mind to it, you can carve your own path to success.
Q. What do you love most about your work?
I’m able to work with a variety of businesses and leadership styles, all with a different goal in mind. I learn so much just from talking to them.
