Q&A

Q. What is the toughest decision you have ever made?
Being faced with tough decisions throughout life is inevitable. Without fail, the right decision is usually the toughest one to make.
Q. Without naming names, tell us about your favorite client and why you enjoyed working with them.
Clients who are appreciative and see the value of what we bring to the table and who keep us involved in their business are the most fun to work with because I feel more like a business partner and less like a hired accountant.
Q. What's one fun fact about yourself?
I won a car on the Price is Right in 1992. It was a Pontiac Grand Prix, but we ended up selling it and used the money for a down payment on our first home.
Q. Describe your work style.
I’ve never been a procrastinator and I’m very organized. I’m also very deadline-driven, but not last-minute deadline-driven. I’m a planner and like things done ahead of schedule.
Q. Who is (or was) the most influential person in your life
My father, a local banker, knew everyone in town and was always involved in the community’s organizations. He’s the reason I am so involved in my community now. He taught me to surround myself with good people and go above and beyond in everything I do.
Q. If you could pass on a nugget of wisdom to aspiring accountants or consultants, what would that be?
Clients are looking to you to make decisions based on your knowledge. Don’t second-guess yourself and don’t overthink it. Take your time to thoughtfully consider what they’re asking. You don’t have to have an answer immediately.
