Q&A

Q. What was it that drew you to Armanino?

What makes Armanino special is its focus on collaboration. It’s the reason clients enjoy working with the team and why the firm has such an excellent reputation. From the leadership to the staff members, everyone is easy to talk to and ready to contribute their skills to help others.

Q. What law or regulation in the accounting industry would you like to see changed?

I would like to see the implementation of mandatory retirement savings, to help people better prepare for the future. The average American has very little saved for retirement or emergencies. A program like CalSavers in California is a good example to follow. This forward-thinking solution guarantees small business employees’ access to a retirement plan where they can set money aside for their post-work years.

Q. Describe your work style.

I create an environment where my team and I feel excited to work hard, continue learning and have fun together. That’s why I create individualized development plans that focus on technical and soft skills to benefit our clients and enhance our team’s professional development. But it’s also important to me that we have a good time while we do our work. I’m the first one to dress up for Halloween, plan team luncheons and find ways to connect with team members.

Q. Who is (or was) the most influential person in your life?

My dad. He’s a man of few words because he believes in teaching by example. Instead of giving advice, he likes to show and help others think through things, so they can make the best decisions for themselves. That’s why he’s a rock for our family.

Q. If you could pass on a nugget of wisdom to aspiring accountants or consultants, what would that be?

Find a team that you work well with, connect with those people and build a community of mentors for yourself. When I look back at my career, it’s those key mentors who have really pointed me in the right direction and continue to help me achieve long-term growth.
