IT is one of the integral parts of a company, whether your company is just starting out or are at an enterprise level. Although this function is viewed straightforward -- install and support software -- the IT departments of today hold more influence and responsibility for a company's overall success. These responsibilities can include providing the infrastructure for automation, implementing governance (including security protocols) for the use of network and operating systems, creating and maintaining operational applications; developing, securing, and storing electronic data that belongs to the organization; and assisting in the use of software and data management to all functional areas of the organization.
