Electronic Reporting in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations

September 04, 2018

Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations offers a robust and configurable Electronic Reporting (ER) tool, putting the power in the hands of the business user. The tool can be used to configure formats for both incoming and outgoing electronic documents, and to give you a head start, Microsoft provides a repository of formats that can be imported and used right away. Examples of these ER configurations include localized electronic payment formats, VAT declarations and Intrastat formats.

Need an ER format not provided by Microsoft? Configuration can be done by a business user and does not require a developer, although there is definitely a learning curve.

Trying to access a template but receiving an error message that "Excel file is broken or has incorrect structure"? The link to the template in the document repository may be broken. This can occur when restoring environments. To resolve it, you will need to delete and reimport the configuration:

  • If there are derived configuration formats, export them before deleting the formats.
  • To delete configuration formats, use Migration cleanup under Organization administration/Periodic/Migration cleanup. Delete from the lowest configuration level up to the model.
  • Once the configurations are deleted, reimport from the MS provider LCS repository.
